Borg Cardona & Co. Ltd, importers of Royal Canin dog and cat food, has launched a philanthropic initiative aimed at helping stray dogs and cats. Last held two years ago, under the initiative that has been renamed the Royal Canin Malta Charity Campaign, the company will donate 5c for each kilogram of Royal Canin dog and cat food purchased in Malta and Gozo.

The campaign runs for three months from February to April. Consumers will pay the same price they would normally pay so long as they choose bags that carry the sticker displaying the Royal Canin Malta Charity Campaign. Any bag of pet food bought with the sticker will qualify for the contribution, which is part of the company’s social responsibility campaigns for animals in need.

The money collected will be donated to a number of animal sanctuaries and to registered feeders of strays.

The aim of the initiative is to provide food for dogs and cats in need; to improve their health and provide them with healthy alternatives; to improve the quality of life of these dogs and cats; and to create greater awareness in the community on animal well-being.

Nigel Borg Cardona, director of Borg Cardona & Co., said: “Through Royal Canin, which we have represented in Malta and Gozo for over 30 years, we want to show that we are leaders in supporting even stray dogs and cats.

“Thanks to the volume of business of Royal Canin in Malta and Gozo, this small donation can make a big difference. I am confident that this money will truly benefit strays, and that the community will be made more aware of how many of these animals need to be looked after, having been abandoned by their owners.”
