I am a physical education teacher at the Archbishop’s Seminary, Rabat, and has just graduated with a Master of Science in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy from the University of Birmingham.

The modules covered throughout the two-year study programme included research methods, professional learning in sports and exercise, advanced pedagogies in physical education as well as a professional case study in physical education.

As part fulfilment of my studies, I also completed a dissertation that looked into the implementation of the National Curriculum in Physical Education in Malta. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether, and if so, to which extent, physical education teachers in Malta adhere to the guidelines set by national curriculums.

In so doing, the facilitators and inhibitors of curriculum implementation were explored. Furthermore, the study sought to analyse the teachers’ pers-pectives of the learning outcomes framework.

The study programme was fully sponsored by the Malta Sports Scholarship Scheme.
