A woman was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital on Monday afternoon after she was hit by a car on a busy thoroughfare during the rush hour.

The 80-year-old woman, who lives in Santa Venera, was hit by a Kia Ceres being driven by a 51-year-old Birkirkara man.

The incident on Old Railway Track, Santa Venera – the tail end of Birkirkara’s Psaila Street – was reported to the police at around 5.30pm.

An ambulance rushed the victim to hospital while police officers cleared the incident area to limit rush hour disruption.
