Serie A side Fiorentina held their first training session at the Malta FA Training Grounds, in Ta' Qali on Sunday afternoon.

Fiorentina skipper German Pezzella heaped praise on the Maltese islands, describing the facilities as ideal for their short stay on our islands.

"So far we have been treated very well and we are delighted to go through our paces in Malta," he said to Times of Malta following the training session.

"The training facilities are in excellent conditions and we are also happy with the hosting environment."

Colombian forward Luis Muriel, who joined the club during this transfer window from Sevilla, was involved in the training session as well.

The Viola arrived in the late hours of Saturday night in a direct flight from Florence and they will be involved in a friendly tournament next Wednesday, against Gżira United and Hibernians at the National Stadium.
