Birkirkara completed their first transfer in the winter window when they signed Muamer Svraka.

The former Bosnian international midfielder put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the season.

Birkirkara said that the 30-year-old is capable of playing in several positions, namely as defensive midfielder, central midfielder and attacking midfielder. He represented his country between 2011 and 2013, making six appearances and scoring two goals.

On a club-level, Svraka was on the books of Estonian side FC Levadia Tallin, in the same league of former Birkirkara FC player, Ellinton Morais.

Svraka started his professional career with FK Željezničar Sarajevo where he spent six years between 2008 and 2014 with a loan to FK Travnik in between during season 2009-2010. He has also played with Paykan FC in Iran, Istra 1961 in Croatia, Semen Padang in West Sumatra. In 2017, he joined FK Olimpik Sarajevo before returning to Croatia to join NK Rudeš.

Meanwhile, Birkirkara have also announced that they parted ways with Nigerian midfielder Umeh Calistus.

The former Valletta midfielder joined the Stripes last summer but failed to secure a regular place in Paul Zammit's first XI.
