The following statistics are taken from the internet, so I cannot vouch for their accuracy.

Six prominent British politicians of yesteryear have all been arguing that the UK’s best interests are served by remaining in the European Union. They are: Peter (now Baron) Mandelson £673,000; Chris (now Baron) Patten £777,539; Catherine (now Baroness) Ashton £328,000;Neil (now Baron) Kinnock £1,700,000; Christopher (now Baron) Tugendhat £796,000; and Michael (now Baron) Heseltine £90,000. The sums indicated, which ought possibly to be in euros rather than sterling, are the annual pensions they receive from the EU. Heseltine is an exception because his figure comes in the form of an EU farming subsidy.

If I am wrong in any of this, somebody will, no doubt, correct me.

As members of the House of Lords, they may also claim a daily attendance allowance of £405, plus travel expenses and subsidised restaurant prices.

One may ask in whose interest are they so keen for Britain to remain. And any EU citizen who is a taxpayer is entitled to wonder where all this money is coming from.

We may be assured that the wheels of the Brussels gravy train are well oiled and running as smoothly as ever. Is it any wonder that so many MPs are anxious to serve Europe better by becoming MEPs?
