A talking tour around the Msida Bastion Historic Garden’s cemetery will be held on January 5 by its warden Paolo, featuring interesting stories about duels, suicides and heroism.

The tour will also cover funeral and military architecture, symbols of death and a visit to the garden’s funerary practice display – taking visitors back to the last 400 years of Maltese history.

The tour will start at 10am and will take one-and-a-half hours to be completed. A donation of €5 will be appreciated and will include the entrance ticket, the guided tour and coffee/tea/soft drinks and biscuits.

A maximum of 20 adults will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For bookings, e-mail wardengor@gmail.com.

Meanwhile, the garden will also be open to the public to visit on January 6 between 9.30am and noon.

Volunteers Paolo and Sandra will guide visitors as they walk through the garden. There will also be some good bargains in the garden’s brac-a-brac and used books sections and many plants. Din l-Art Ħelwa publications are also available.

Entrance is free but a small donation is always appreciated. Tea and coffee are available against a small charge. All funds will go towards the garden’s maintenance.
