Hugo Chetcuti murder suspect Bojan Cmelik sat passively in the dock on Friday as officers investigating the killing of the Paceville kingpin presented English-language versions of their reports in court.
Four armed officers kept watch over the bulletproof-vested Mr Cmelik, as magistrate Marse Ann Farrugia presided over the continued compilation of evidence against him. The 35-year-old stands accused of having fatally stabbed Mr Chetcuti outside one of his establishments on a busy Friday night in July.
A sitting in October had to be brought to a premature end after Mr Chetcuti's brother-in-law lunged at Mr Cmelik, saying the accused had been smirking at him. Commotion continued outside the courtroom, forcing magistrate Farrugia to postpone the hearing.
On Friday, scene of the crime officers Michelle Camilleri and Darren Debattista submitted English copies of their reports concerning the case to the court, as did court expert Martin Bajada.
Prosecuting inspector Nikolai Sant told the magistrate that there were no further witnesses to be heard during the sitting, and the case was adjourned to January 9.
