A man was remanded in custody on Tuesday after he pleaded not guilty to grievously injuring a 30-year-old man in Xlendi on Sunday.

The police said the man, a 24-year-old Nigerian who lives in Żebbuġ, Gozo, was also charged with breaching the peace and the conditions of a previous release.

Another man, a 30-year-old Somali who lives in Munxar, was granted bail after he pleaded not guilty to breaching the peace and the conditions of a previous release, also in Xlendi on Sunday.

Inspector Bernard Charles Spiteri prosecuted. The cases were heard by Magistrate J. Vella.
