Those responsible for or own the concrete plants in the area known as It-Telgħa t’Alla u Ommu, in Naxxar, are a disgrace to the road network. Recently, five instances of concrete being spilt on to the road from overladen concrete mixer trucks and two more similar incidents have already been noticed last week.
There is no excuse one can accept from these arrogant suppliers who do not care about drivers, blocking the road for ages to clean up the spillage and, on many occasions, just keep driving on and ignore the spillage, as can be witnessed by the concrete-littered road surface.
Anyone driving uphill will realise that although the authorities have done their best to remove the blockage at the top of the hill and improve the traffic flow, nothing was done to bring these ‘cowboys’ of the building industry to account as they clearly do not have any respect for motorists and the condition of roads. What are the authorities waiting for to take action or do they fear these ‘cowboys’? Or is, perhaps, these ‘cowboys’ are above the law?
