These are the main stories featured in Saturday's newspapers:

Times of Malta reports a Eurobarometer survey which found the Maltese are fairly optimistic about the coming year. The second story says a Satabank client is demanding compensation for “abusive and illegal” action taken by the authorities.

L-orizzont quotes Health Minister Chris Fearne saying it was important for the government to work with the private sector and not compete with it. Another story cites developers' association boss Sandro Chetcuti saying the worrying rate of accidents in the construction sector was down to foreigners who were adopting working methods used 50 years ago.

In-Nazzjon quotes party leader Adrian Delia saying he was determined to fight corruption but he also wanted to battle the hatred in the country. It also reports a highly-critical interview given by a German man who had lost his son off Dingli Cliffs in 2016.

The Malta Independent says NGOs and the local council were concerned with the Corinthia project in Pembroke. It also says the Transport Minister has refused to say how much the free public transport plan would cost the taxpayer.
