A video has emerged of a car being driven down the historic steps next to Valletta's Victoria Gate.

Passers-by looked on incredulously as the Smart Car was driven down the steps, with the driver having no problem negotiating the sharp corner before continuing on its course through the gate. 

Thankfully, no pedestrians were using the steps at the time of the stunt. 

The video was uploaded on Instagram by the appropriately-named user 'Ride the Streets' with the caption 'Maltese shortcuts'.

In December 2016, another video had emerged of a car also being driven down the same steps.
