An exhausted restaurant worker dozed off as he was driving home – and crashed into not one but three Ferraris, running up a repair bill of $391,000.

The 20-year-old Taiwanese was not covered by insurance and with a monthly salary of $1,136 certainly did not have the money to pay up, but his plight touched the hearts of his countrymen, with donations pouring in.

BBC reported that dozens of people turned up at the local police station to help, with some going to Lin Chin-hsiang’s home– a shack made of sheet metal - to leave money.

BBC reported that more than 100 donations – from $4 to $6,500 – were made, raising $24,000 so far have already been raised.

The Ferrari owners had met up early on Sunday morning to go for a scenic drive and were standing next to the cars at the time of the accident. Although they have not waived the bill, they have agreed that the bill could be repaid in instalments, Mr Lin said, adding that he intended to repay his dues in full.
