On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the death of Mabel Strickland, her nephew, Robert Strickland, and his wife hosted a reception at Villa Parisio in Lija on November 29.

The reception was attended by distinguished guests including the British High Commissioner, the Australian High Commissioner, the Greek Ambassador and the German Ambassador, as well as numerous family and friends and board members of Allied Newspapers Ltd.

Mr Strickland delivered a short commemorative speech and unveiled a new bronze portrait of his aunt that he had sculpted, together with a bronze portrait of her father, Lord Strickland, founders of the Times of Malta and The Sunday Times of Malta.
