Obituaries

CASTILLO. On December 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, STELLA, of Sliema, aged 96, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children, Richard and his wife Carmen, Martin and his wife Anna, Tonio and his wife Sandra, her grand-children, great-grandchildren, her brother and sisters, family and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow, Saturday, December 8 at 9.30 am at Stella Maris parish church in Sliema, followed by interment at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Mosta. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CUTAJAR. On December 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALICE of Żebbuġ, passed away peacefully at the age of 83, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She will be greatly missed by her children Gerard and his wife Anna and Fr Arthur Cutajar, OFM Conv., her grandchildren Andrew and James, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, December 8, at 7.15am, for St Philip parish church, Żebbuġ, where funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8am, followed by interment at the Sacred Heart (Qalb ta’ Ġesù) Cemetery, Żebbuġ. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PARNIS. On December 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARION, née Raniolo, of St Venera, passed away peacefully, aged 86, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Deeply loved by her husband Anthony, sons Ivan and Josie, daughter Nadya and husband Jan, grandson Carl much loved by nanna, sister-in-law Josephine Raniolo, widow of Italo, in-laws Thomas and his wife Marie, Louis and wife Violet, Charles and his wife Victoria, Perennia and her husband Lawrence, nephew and nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said today, Friday, December 7, at 8.30am, at St Venera parish church, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery (upper end). A prayer is solicited.

SAID. On Thursday, December 6, at Mater Dei hospital, DAVID passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He will be sadly missed by his most dedicated and beloved wife Daphne née Xuereb, his devoted sons Michel and his wife Irina, and Sean, his sister Tania widow of Tonio Casapinta, and his brother Keith, his inlaws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to all the staff at the Emergency unit and ITU at Mater Dei Hospital for their support, dedication and care. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. Thank you Lord for our pillar, For us he was the best, to You we now return him, In Your garden he will rest.

SCHEMBRI. On December 6, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, HILDA, widow of Rocco, aged 87, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her son Joseph, her daughters Carol and her husband Sunny, Therese and her husband Dr Hans-Helmut Frey, her grandchildren Darren, Stephanie, Petra and Katrina, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, December 8, at 2.30pm, for Siġġiewi parish church, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Siġġiewi cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated.
Lord, grant her eternal rest. Special thanks to the nurses and carers at JP1 for the exceptional loving care given to her over the past years.

SPITERI. On December 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH of Għaxaq, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Catherine, Joseph and his wife Maria, his grandchildren, Ludwig and his wife Roseanne, Arvin and his wife Amanda, Sarah Marie and her husband Renard, Saviour Luke and his fiancée, his great-grandchildren Miguel, Matias, Marcus, Annah Rose and Alec, in-law Rose Baldacchino, relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Friday, December 7, at 2.45pm for St Mary’s parish church, Għaxaq, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Għaxaq cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

VASSALLO. MARIE, widow of Leonard, went to meet the Risen Lord on December 6.She leaves to mourn her sad loss, Raymond and Mariella Vassallo, Bernard and Lucia Vassallo and Dorothy Rizzo, nephews and nieces Simon and Claire Vassallo, David and Emma Vassallo, Kristelle and Alan von Brockdorff, Michael and Francesca Rizzo, Mark and Philippa Rizzo, her grand nephews and grand nieces Jeremy and Kaye, John, Stephanie and Julian, Zoe and Max, Nicola, Alex and Pippa, her many Vassallo and Paris relatives, as well as her special friends Jofy Mainzer and Notary Joseph Saydon. Mass præsente cadavere will be said on Monday, December 10, at St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema at 8.45am, followed by interment at Siġġiewi Cemetery. May God grant her Eternal Rest.

MIZZI – Major JO MIZZI. In ever loving memory of a beloved husband, father and grandfather on the 12th anniversary of his death. Deeply missed by his wife Marion, his children Gordon and Anna, Kenneth and Simone, Veronique, Angele and Claude, Corinne and Philip, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
