John Lennon sung ‘Happy Christmas (War is Over)’ in 1971. It was a heartfelt plea, a prayer even, and it’s not close to being fulfilled... not internationally, nor locally.

December, the month of Christmas has just started and, already, many messages of love and good cheer are being conveyed over the social media. Yet, I still see many familiar faces wearing bland, empty, evenfake smiles.

However, it’s not a unitedpeople that is or will be celebrating the birth of Our Lord. There are political and social factions celebrating within their own circles.

Nobody will talk of corruption as the Christmas cheer envelopes a divided country, where the Christmas spirit will mainly be poured out of a bottle. Oh, how I wish it were different.
