As I write this, the table on which my computer rests is wobbling seriously. The waves pounding the Marsalforn promenade are transmitting their energy to our apartment and our neighbours’. It is just like being in the centre of an earthquake. I’m no expert but, surely, our buildings are not built to withstand this kind of continuous punishment.
This happens every year, ever since the breakwater was damaged by the sea six years ago. I made a public plea to the authorities then and a (public) reply from the Ministry of Gozo promised action. Since then, nothing concrete has emerged.
It seems that ‘Nero fiddling’ is a phenomenon that is alive and well in both political parties.
