A newly inaugurated 21-bedroom extension at Casa Apap Bologna in Mosta will offer respite services to up to 1,000 people with severe disabilities, the Prime Minister said on Monday.

The new home, which was developed through a public-private partnership with Hila Homes Ltd, was inaugurated by Joseph Muscat and parliamentary secretary Anthony Agius Decelis.

It is equipped with facilities for people with both physical and intellectual disabilities and will offer clients therapeutic services, social worker support and specialised programmes to help them better integrate within their communities.

Respite services are designed to provide people with a disability with temporary accommodation, allowing their families to get a break from the constant demands that caring for their loved ones places upon them.
