I have just spent a wonderfully warm week in Malta but was very disappointed in one respect.
My late husband was one of only 27 survivors of the sinking of the Louvain (above) in 1918 in which all the Maltese aboard were drowned and, in this centenary year, I travelled to Malta specifically to pay my respects to those who perished in that tragedy but nowhere could I find the memorial to them.
On making enquiries, I heard that there used to be a memorial but it was replaced after WWII by a memorial to those who fell in that conflict.
If anyone has any knowledge what happened to the Louvain memorial I would be very interested to know where it might be found.
