Hibernians breezed into the FA Trophy fourth-round after brushing aside Qormi at the National Stadium.

It was the Paolites who took the lead on 11 minutes.

It was the usual Taylon who put the Paolites ahead when he received an assist on the left and with a diagonal shot beat goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi.

Two minutes later, Hibernians doubled the score, once again thanks to Taylon who pounced on a through ball and anticipated goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi, placing the ball at the back of the net despite Alan Abela’s desperate attempt to clear the ball into safety.

Taylon completed his hat-trick on 16 minutes. The Brazilian striker received an assist on the right flank by Tiago Fonseca and beat the Qormi custodian with a curved shot.

At the other end, Briffa neutralised a Yannick Yankam effort following a cross from the left by Seo In Kim in an isolated attempt for Mario Muscat’s side.

The Paolites added a third just before half-time when Jurgen Degabriele slammed the ball home from an Isaac Ntow cross.

Qormi pulled one back five minutes in the second half when they were awarded a penalty after Ntow brought down Gnindokponou inside the area. Manolito Micallef converted from the penalty spot.

On 74 minutes, Johann Bezzina sent Degabriele through on the left but the latter’s cross was intercepted by the Qormi goalkeeper who turned the ball into a corner.

Hibernians sealed their win on 88 minutes when off a cross from the right by Joseph Mbong, Ntow’s powerful drive from the edge of the area gave Azzopardi no chance

Busuttil 57

Scicluna 90

Pietà Hotspurs battled more than expected to see off Mdina Knights.

The Hotspurs were unlucky after 20 minutes when Nicholas Pisani saw his shot rattle the crossbar.

Not long afterwards, though, Hotspurs took the lead when Shunsuke Nakamura showed a killer instinct in the penalty area, drilling in a rebound after Christian Grech had struck the foot of the post from a free-kick.

The Hotspurs doubled their lead shy the hour mark.

Everything owed to Jan Busuttil when he swept past his marker before beating  Tonna with a crisp finish.

Seven minutes later, Nakamura then applied the killer goal when the ball broke to the Japanese striker who controlled well before drilling another great shot into the net.

Mdina scored a late consolation goal through substitute Cachel Vella, who netted beautifully from free-kick after Tony was sent for an early shower for denying the same Vella a clear scoring opportunity.

Yet the Knights were once again undone when James Scicluna pulled himself up to convert a late penalty.
