BUGEJA. On November 29, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARYANNE of Rabat, widow of Carmelo, aged 96, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her nephews Dr Charles F. Grech and his wife Alena, Fr Franco Grech O.S.A., Paul Spiteri, Mario Bugeja, Alexander Bugeja, Patrick Bugeja, her niece Maria Anna and her husband John Caruana, Marcelle widow of her nephew Joseph Spiteri, her cousin Paul Axiak, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortege leaves Mater Dei Hospital, tomorrow, Saturday, December 1, at 9.30am for St Mark’s Augustinian church, Rabat, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 10am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CASSAR. On October 30, at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, UK, former Ambassador Dr GEORGE CASSAR of Qormi, aged 69, passed away peacefully after a short illness. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife Jane, his daughter Antonella and her partner Bruce, his son Carl and his partner Clare, his daughter Kate and her daughter Saskia, his daughter Amy and her husband Nick and their sons, Oliver, Joshua, and Alexander, his brothers Mr Justice Silvio Meli and his wife Sylvana, Philip Meli and his wife Jackie, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral will take place at St Peter and St Paul church, Swaffham, UK, on Monday, December 10, at 12.30pm. Wreaths to be sent to 51, Market Place, Swaffham, Norfolk, PE37 7LE, England.

CIANTAR. On November 29, ANTHONY (Twanny) of Vittoriosa, residing at Fgura, aged 75, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Lilian, his son Andrew, his daughter Caroline and her husband Charles Duncan, his grandchildren Keith and his girlfriend Tiziana, and Cynthia, his brother Lawrence, Connie, widow of his brother Joe, his sisters Sr M. Sophia, Jane and her husband Joe Tabone and Pauline, widow of Adrian Bowman, his mother-in-law Emmanuela and his brother-in-law Frederick-Alan, nephews, nieces and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, December 1, at 9.30am, for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 10am. DESPOTT. On November 23, KARL ANTHONY of Sliema, formerly of Balzan, aged 71, passed away peacefully at home after a short illness borne with Christian fortitude surrounded by his loved ones, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss, his treasured wife, Maphine née Xuereb, his beloved children, Edward and Maria, his sisters Jean and Tania, brother Maurice, his in-laws, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He will also be fondly remembered as a dedicated and well-loved educator, especially by his very many past students of physics, his favourite subject. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow, Saturday, December 1, at 2pm, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family would prefer not to receive visitors at this time. Rather than flowers, donations to the Ursuline Crèche, Sliema, and Hospice Malta, Balzan, would be greatly appreciated. FRENDO CUMBO. On November 29, at the Sisters of Charity convent, Tarxien, Sr M. PIA, aged 82, passed away peacefully to meet the Risen Lord. She leaves to mourn her loss the congregation of the Sisters of Charity, her brother Alfred and his wife Carmen, her sister Connie and her husband Tony, in England her sisters Tessie, Polly, Rose, her brothers Pio and his wife Mary, Eddie and his wife Therese, her sister Annie and her husband Frank, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated today at 9am at the chapel of the convent of the Sisters of Charity, Tarxien, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

HARWOOD. On November 30, at Mater Dei Hospital, EILEEN of St Paul’s Bay, passed away peacefully at the age of 98, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Pauline and her husband Tony Dowling, her other children in UK, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Monday, December 3, at 8.15am, for Our Lady of Sorrows (Marija Addolorata) parish church, St Paul’s Bay, where funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at the Divine Mercy (Ħniena Divina) Cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares, Mater Dei Hospital, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

THAKE. On November 27, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARTIN, aged 64, passed away suddenly after a short illness, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving sister Maryanne, his brothers Peter and Mavonia, Stephen and Deborah, John and Josanne, and David and Agnieska, his nephews and nieces Robert, Paula, Michael, Matthew, Christine, Steffi, Rachel, Max, Alex, Harry, Sophie and Nicole, his aunts Gladys, Lilian and Marionne, Heidi, widow of Wilfred, cousins, other relatives and friends, and all his students from various colleges where he taught. The funeral cortége leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, December 1, at 9.30am, for the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy, San Pawl tat-Tarġa, limits of Naxxar, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 10am.
