No agreement yet on tariffs
General Workers’ Union secretary general Tony Zarb yesterday dismissed talk of the unions being in agreement with the latest energy tariffs proposed by the government. He said the Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin and the Confederation of Malta Trade Unions had been “hasty” in saying that they agreed with the proposals because the GWU and another 10 unions were still seeking clarifications. There was still no agreement, he said.
The unions are asking for a meeting with the government’s technical people dealing with the workings on the tariffs before taking a stand on the new proposals, he added.

New film shows Iran behind Lockerbie bomb – MP
A new documentary film partly funded by Libya will blame Iran, not Libya, for carrying out the Lockerbie bombing after a US warship shot down an Iranian civilian airliner, a Scottish politician said yesterday.
“The film will show Teheran commissioned the attack and arranged for it to be carried out by Syrians,” said Scottish Labour parliamentarian Tam Dalywell.
“It may well create a great deal of trouble but it is essential that the truth is found,” he added.
Dalyell, long a campaigner on the Lockerbie bombing, said he had been consulted by film producer Allan Francovich who is putting together a documentary – partly funded by Libya.
