The article ‘Only one in six women report violent attacks by partners’ (November 23) relating to family violence is itself a violence, showing a male hand strangling a woman.
I find these visuals offending, unnecessary and misleading. These visuals are meant to appeal to our baser primitive instincts. We do not need blood and gore or other crass evidence of violence to be convinced that domestic violence has become a scourge in our society.
Surely our journalists are competent enough to rely on the logic of the written word to convince us of their arguments without having to have recourse to offending visuals.
