Addressing about a dozen 14- to 24-year-olds attending the Nationalist Party - AŻAD course for young people interested in taking up politics in future, the Opposition leader came out with one of his most classic ‘gems’ to date to add to his never-ending collection of ludicrous statements.

Adrian Delia told his bemused young audience: “Those being born today will most probably live to be 200 years old.”

He keeps saying the Prime Minister has no plan for the future. On the contrary, Delia seems to have a plan for the next 200 years. So, using his unique foresight, if those being born now may live to be 200 years old, those who were born 14 to 24 years ago and were listening to him would probably live to be 170 - 180 years.

So do not be surprised if, next time, Delia will say that the retiring age will have to be increased from the present 65 years to about 140-150 years for those same youths he was addressing.

Honestly, this man is not just ridiculing himself but also the party he is supposed to lead. No wonder the well-known and greatly-respected opinion writer and university lecturer, Andrew Azzopardi, opined that Delia’s position is no longer tenable since “he is risking turning the PN into a turnip”. In this regard, he is being helped in no small way by Simon Busuttil and Jason Azzopardi with their barefaced untruths on the Prime Minister.
