The second edition of the Make Music Great annual International Band Festival will take place today and tomorrow in Għarb.

Organised by the Visitation of Our Lady Band Club, together with Għarb council, the festival will feature various bands from Slovenia, Portugal and Italy.

Maltese and Gozitan bands will also be taking part.

These include the St George’s band of Qormi, St Anne’s band of Marsascala and the St Margaret’s band of Sannat and St Mary’s band of Żebbuġ, Gozo.

The bands will be accompanied by flag throwers, majorets and folk groups.

The programme, being held over two days, will also feature foreign guests and the Visitation of Our Lady Band Club. After the parade, there will be activities on stage, followed by music pieces by ‘a mass band’.

There will also be a traditional whole pork feast.

Tomorrow’s programme kicks off at 9.30am from St Peter’s Square in Għarb, where a monument will be blessed and inaugurated in remembrance of World War II victims from Għarb.

At 10am a parade leaves with all the bands and groups, both local and foreign, and heads for the Visitation of Our Lady Square where best talents will be on show. The programme comes to an end at 1.30pm, followed by a stand-up meal in the square. For more information, call 7949 2667.
