The Gozitan parish priest who was paraded around his parish in a Porsche provided a typical example of the type of ‘poverty of Christ’ flaunted by the Catholic clergy.

Add to this priestly ‘poverty’ the mansions of the nuncios, bishops and cardinals of the Church and the churches - bedecked with red damask and crystal chandeliers - that look like ballrooms in 18th century Venice.
