ŻiguŻajg, the annual international arts festival that puts the creative arts for children and young people at the heart of Malta’s cultural landscape, showcases high-quality performances in various disciplines to create a programme that is an enticing mix of newly devised work and renowned international productions.

The 2018 edition – on until Sunday – is a special one with a bigger number of events and outreach initiatives around Malta and Gozo.

Although most of the events are sold out, a few shows are still available, such as Rave & Behave, The New Victorians, which features musical sisters Bella and Blue. So, when The New Victorians announce they are running a song-writing competition to find their new support act, they have to enter and win. This dynamic duo have just one day to make the ultimate ‘electro-acoustic’ pop hit.

Children can help Bella and Blue on their quest to become legends before lunchtime, in this interactive jamming journey which is a must-see for all mischievous music makers in the family.

Barra bid-Daqq, also on today at 6pm, features local musical groups Perkuss’hawnMaracatu (a Maltese performing group of the Brazilian Maracatu genre) and KażinSka (a band mostly known for the joyous atmosphere and upbeat arrangements of Maltese feast songs) as they give new life to a selection of songs from Għanijiet it-Tfal. These songs were first published in 1989 by songwriter and educator Mary Anne Zammit.

This is a chance for the audience to revisit them in a whole new style and to hear the new tune written for ŻiguŻajg – Il-Parata!

Rave and Behave is on today at 6pm at Studio A, Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier, Valletta. Recommended for children aged 10+. For tickets, visit https://ticketenginex.kreattivita.org .

Barra bid-Daqq will also take place on Sunday at 6pm. No booking is needed for this event.
