Vehicles were moving at a snail’s pace along the Mrieħel Bypass at about 9.15am last Monday when, from the distance, the sound of an emergency siren could be heard. Motorists did their best to make way for what many thought was an ambulance or a police car tending to some emergency. But along came a black vehicle with the Speaker of the House and his driver inside. Many motorists must have wondered what the emergency was.

Sort it out

To the old lady who some days ago, late in the evening, calmly walked up the road and placed this cardboard box (photo) of glass, plastic and miscellaneous rubbish by the side of the road next to the public rubbish bin close to the entrance of the staff car park of the Archbishop’s Seminary school in Godwin Ganado Street, Tal-Virtù, Rabat. Shame on you! Go back, pick up your box, take it back home, sort it out and place your sorted rubbish near your own doorstep on the correct collection days. Do the right thing.

Mind your step!

While the government has been busy rebuilding roads on the island, it seems to have forgotten about the importance of pavements. Walking on some of the pavements these days is a challenge, to say the least. Apart from the overgrown weeds, some of the pavements are in such a terrible state that stepping on to the street is probably safer. It’s all well and good that roads are being upgraded but pavements should not be forgotten.

No point

What’s the point of crowding Tritons Square with ugly container kiosks if they don’t even open for business? These were originally only supposed to be kept shut at night when not open for business. If they are not being used, they should be removed.
