For how long must we Maltese listeners and viewers of Radju Malta and TVM continue to suffer the next to total linguistic incapabilities of many of those stations’ presenters?

Women’s programme presenter Lilian Maistrè not knowing the meaning of the simple Maltese word imlewwen (coloured); sports presenter Peter Paul Gauci not knowing how to pronounce Paris Saint Germain (insistently pronouncing it as if it were that Maltese surname); 8pm newscasters or report writers indulging in a plethora of bad pronunciation of place and person names. These and umpteen others have now really reached the bottom. Is PBS chairman Tonio Portughese prepared to accept the challenge of starting to fine each one of these people who appear before a microphone or TV camera every time they utter such bloomers? Of course, not. He will be resisted by these apparently all-powerful ‘personalities’. They will get their own way and, in the process, all Maltese with a modicum of linguistic education will continue to be fed such garbage.

Keep feeding asses dried hay and they will continue to ask for dried hay... remaining asses in the process.
