In a lecture about heraldry and nobility in Malta, Charles Gauci will give the reasons for the introduction of titles in Malta, their origins and the status of the nobility today.

Gauci will delve into heraldry, showing how a typical coat of arms is composed, and how these differ around the world when compared to Malta. Participants will also hear interesting and amusing anecdotes about Maltese noble families.

A semi-retired consultant in pain medicine and a lecturer in human anatomy at the University of Malta, Gauci has been writing about various aspects of the Maltese nobility since the late 1970s and signed copies of his latest book The Peerage and Knightage in Malta will be on sale after the talk.

This event will open Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar’s 2018-2019 cultural programme.

The talk will take place at the Phoenicia Hotel, Floriana on Wednesday at 6.30pm. The lecture will be conducted in English. For more information visit www.faa.org.mt or www.culturemalta.org.
