A cheque for €1,475 was donated to the Social Assistance Secretariat Catholic Action based at the Catholic Institute in Floriana – a little known, poorly-funded charity, which is doing sterling work helping families who through no fault of their own find themselves on the underside of life.

The money was collected a few weeks ago by a number of boys and girls who received their First Holy Communion and were confirmed within the Parish for English Speaking Catholics in Malta. Both sacraments were administered and received at the Mater Admirabilis Chapel within the precincts of the Archbishop’s Seminary in tal-Virtù Rabat.

During these celebrations the children were asked to bring up a monetary offering to be donated to families with children in need. They collected €1,475.

The money was handed in by Matthew Bonnici Cocks (above), one of the children confirmed this year, to Linda Carabott from the Social Assistance Secretariat.
