A teachers’ training programme aimed at preventing early school leaving will be presented at a seminar for school staff and policy makers on Friday.

The programme aims to build educators’ competence in supporting the learning and wellbeing of students at risk of early school leaving and social exclusion. It has been developed as part of an EU-funded project called Empathic and Supportive Teachers – Key to Quality and Efficiency in Education (EMPAQT), and was piloted in various secondary schools in the project partner organisations, including a middle school in Malta.

The event, to be held from 9am to noon at San Ġorg Preca College Middle School, Blata l-Bajda, Ħamrun, is organised by the University of Malta’s Centre for Resilience and Socio-Emotional Health.

Attendance is free but registration is required. For further information and bookings e-mail denise.mizzi@um.edu.mt.
