The Malta Institute of Accountants Biennial Conference returns with an edition dedicated to the digital transformation in finance on November 16 at the InterContinental in St Julian’s.

The conference brings together thought leaders and influencers on the theme: ‘The finance [r]evolution… unlocking the digital riddle’.

With the participation of experts in finance and technology, the MIA Biennial Conference will explore the exciting intersections between artificial intelligence, cloud technology, blockchain, taxation and the finance industry. The phenomenon of digitalisation is remodelling the finance profession, with direct effects on the way businesses are run.

“In this conference we’re looking at the change that is coming from different corners to empower participants to visualise the future and prepare for it,” said one of the speakers, Claudine Cassar, technology and digital leader at Deloitte.

The conference will be addressed by an eminent selection of international and local specialists including Giorgia Maffini from PwC London, Jeroen Vlek from KPMG Netherlands, Prof. Alexiei Dingli from the University of Malta, Olga Pinkel from WH Partners, and others.

An insightful programme will discuss issues in the fields of cyber-risk, law and legislation, technological innovation, ethical hacking, taxation, effects of digitalisation on the financial profession and implications of cryptocurrency and advanced fintech.

“There are many opportunities in the adoption of new technology such as the cloud and other software solutions,” said Michael Azzopardi, EY senior manager of IT Advisory, who will host a special session at the conference, focusing on data analytics and AI.

The conference will also be addressed by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Opposition leader Adrian Delia and Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation Silvio Schembri.
