Updated 1am Wednesday -  A group of 149 migrants was brought to Malta late on Tuesday after having been rescued from a dinghy 60 miles off Malta.

The Armed Forces of Malta said the boat was found to be in difficulty and the migrants were picked up by a patrol boat, which brought them to Hay Wharf.

The group was the first to be picked up from a small boat off Malta in a month.

Two groups of migrants, one of 114 and the other of 97, were picked up from small boats in difficulty off Malta in early October.
