We have just got to know about a sworn affidavit by a ‘whistleblower’, who happens to be MEP David Casa’s former aide, saying he was present when Casa used to take cocaine during weekends together with some friends and colleagues in two local hotels.

The ‘whistleblower’ is also quoted saying in his affidavit that during those days a person would arrive at the hotel and sell Casa cocaine, which he would share with his friends and aides.

Even more serious is the allegation that Casa also used to take cocaine at his office at the Nationalist Party headquarters but this stopped after September 2017 (when Adrian Delia became party leader).

There is much more to this story. It must be said that Casa immediately denied these criminal allegations. But his denial was not made under oath.

If he wanted to clear the dark cloud hanging over him, he should have immediately taken legal action against this unnamed ‘whistleblower’. Instead, Casa first said the he would be taking action “at the opportune moment”. But later he said he had no time to waste, again denying the allegations.

This can only darken the cloud over Casa, especially when the ‘whistleblower’ has written to OLAF and also to the Attorney General offering to give more details about what he said about Casa and use of EU funds.

Casa’s running away from journalists is not helping his credibility on this story.
