The entrance to the Hilton Hotel was shining bright pink with a lit-up façade. Guests were greeted with pink flowers and bowls of pink sweets at the entrance; the rooms were decorated with folded towels, pink-themed amenities and pink ribbons and the staff proudly wore the eminent pink ribbon upon their chest.

Despite this, the pink lights, ribbons and flowers were not enough. This year, the hotel went over and above to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Its food and beverage outlets also participated in the fundraising for Pink October. At its Vista Lobby & Lounge, one could order a pink cappuccino, while at the Quarterdeck they offered a cocktail donation hour.

All proceeds were donated towards the cause. The Oceana restaurant arranged a very pink display during its breakfast buffet. Guests contributed to the cause by giving out any donations they deemed fit.

These Pink October specials were backed up by an Instagram competition that drove participants to the Hilton Hotel. Participants were asked to take a picture with one of the Pink October specials and share it with their friends on Instagram. This initiative was carried out to raise awareness and spread the message throughout social media. The winner of this competition was given a two-night stay at the Hilton.

To kickstart its international Meet with Purpose campaign, Hilton organised an early yoga session, also in aid of Pink October, followed by a healthy breakfast.

In collaboration with Livingwell, the hotel also held pink-themed classes. The proceeds from these classes were donated to the cause.

Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide, with one in eight women developing this disease in their lifetime. Even though it is rare, breast cancer can also affect men. Early detection and treatment will result in reduced cases.

All the proceeds from Hilton’s campaign will go to the Pink October Marigold Foundation.
