Attorney General Peter Grech is receiving medical treatment for an unspecified cause, according to a terse statement issued by the Department of Information on Wednesday.

The government said that Assistant Attorney General Victoria Buttigieg would be taking over his role in his absence, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.

No indication was given in the statement about the possible duration of his sick leave.
