Dear Future Me, a theatre piece about how children and youths overcome their daily struggles to achieve their goals, is being staged at the Valletta Campus Theatre on Saturday and Sunday.

This original, creative and multidisciplinary theatre piece is the debut major production of The Treble Makers, a non-profit youth group focusing on pop and musical theatre repertoire.

Founded in 2010, the group has previously worked on various small, non-fundable projects such as music videos, showcases, appearances, theatre workshops and live-ins.

In this piece, the youths, aged seven to 25, will present circumstances and challenges they face, using means such as dance expression, song, speech, physical theatre, mime, mask and silhouette work.

The show takes us on a journey through the minds and lives of kids and youths as they explore and navigate the wins and struggles of their everyday lives; a topic not often discussed in traditional media. 

The themes chosen are those that members of the cast themselves have personally experienced, allowing them to develop the ideas in the most realistic version possible. This allows not only the kids to relate, but for the adults in the audience to see and understand the youths' point of view also. 

No one is the villain in their own story.

Apart from providing an entertaining evening, the piece is also an educational project both for the performers and the audience. It aims to teach them how to deal with difficult circumstances that one faces in life, to never give up on one’s goals and dreams, and to be confident and determined in whatever one does to win against all odds.

The production is directed by Faye Micallef-Grimaud, choreographed by Carly Zarb, with visuals and Photos by Dylan Odom.
