Victor Emanuel Agius has been appointed to APS Bank’s board of directors. He joins the bank as non-executive director after an international career of 43 years spanning commercial and development banking and project finance.
Mr Agius started his career at Lloyds Bank (1974-78) and then joined the World Bank Group based in Washington DC (1978-2000) rising to principal financial specialist. During this period he also spent time at International Finance Corporation (IFC) as senior investment officer and at the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD) in London as senior banker and co-director, Financial Institutions Department from 1993 to 1997.
Between 2000 and 2017 he was director at the Council of European Development Bank (CEB) based in Paris, responsible for technical quality and oversight of the CEB’s portfolio.
Mr Agius has a BA (Hons) Economics from the Royal University of Malta (1971) and an MBA from Manchester Business School. He also followed an executive programme in financial management of banking institutions at the Wharton School of Finance in Pittsburgh and the senior finance executive programme at Stanford University in California.
APS Bank chairman Frederick Mifsud Bonnici said: “Mr Agius’s international track record and extensive experience combine strong financial and investment analysis with private sector development insights. His breadth of knowledge will certainly be of great contribution to our board.”
