A motorcyclist was grievously injured in an accident on Saturday evening.

The police said the accident happened in Triq Louis Wettinger, Mellieħa at 6pm.

The 57-year-old motorcyclist, who lives in Żurrieq, lost control of his Kymco Dink and crashed into a barrier.

A medical team from Mater Dei Hospital was called on site to assist the victim, who was later transferred to hospital.

The police are investigating.

This was the third accident involving a motorcyclist on Saturday and the second in Triq Wettinger.

In the first accident, a 38-year-old from Ħamrun was grievously injured when he was hit by a car in Triq Clarence, Msida at 2pm.

The second accident, also in Triq Louis Wettinger, Mellieħa, took place at 3pm, when a 40-year-old Briton who was riding pillion was injured when the rider lost control of the bike and fell.
