A man was granted bail after he allegedly left his partner with a bloody forehead and bodily injuries.
Police were called to the family home were they found the woman suffering from a blow to her forehead and blood oozing down her face, Inspector Godwin Scerri said.
After taking the woman to the health centre, the woman was deemed to be in a "high-risk situation" by officials at Aġenzija Appoġġ.
The man, a television station director, told police the woman was drunk and tripped. However, police said there was no indication she was drunk when they were on the scene.
Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras banned the publication of the names of both the accused and the victim to protect the minors in the family.
The man was granted bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €3000. A protection order was also issued for the term of the case.
Lawyer Marion Camilleri appeared for the accused.
Defence lawyer Lara Dimitrijevic appeared parte civile.
