Emily Barbaro Sant, as expected, poured praise on slain “biċċa blogger”, as Adrian Delia had defined Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Yes, all of us, irrespective of our political opinions, were totally shocked at the news of her killing. No one, not even the worst of criminals, deserves to have one’s life taken away, whatever one may have done.

But Barbaro Sant was very selective. She only remembers the good Daphne may have done when exposing those who broke the law. But she forgot the bad which Daphne had often done, when she targeted people, not just politicians, whose only sin was that they had a different political opinion and may have been relatives, friends or associates of Labour politicians.

While her assassination has rightly been condemned by the vast majority of the Maltese people, Daphne’s delight in trying to ‘assassinate’ the character of those whom she politically hated must also be condemned. I am sure Barbaro Sant, who must have been a vivid follower of her blog, knows this as much as I and many thousands do.

What I found disgusting in her letter is her repeating the mantra that “justice has not yet been done”. As if the arraignment of the three alleged killers has never happened.

She ended her letter with Daphne last few words: “Crooks are everywhere you look...” Incidentally, her own party leader was referred to as “a crook” by the person she adulates. And if she reads the two front page stories of MaltaToday (October 21), she may start to understand where real and not perception of corruption actually lies.
