Driving through the normally-subdued village of St Paul’s Bay centre confirms how amateurish and irresponsible are all those tasked with controlling traffic (mis-) management in this locality. As we are all aware, there are a number of rebuilding projects in the centre of St Paul’s Bay and the main road is often closed to accommodate the building contractors, with a community officer on duty at the corner of Cathedral Street to direct the oncoming traffic from Veċċja area.
We are now at a stage where particular contractors are placing two plastic bollards and closing the road with no police or community officers seen in the areas to re-direct traffic. This is causing traffic jams for up to 15 minutes at any one time, thus, seriously slowing down traffic with frustrated drivers sounding the horn and turning what is a normal and peaceful residential area into a very noisy car charade, all because there is no one to take charge of these contractors who abuse the law left, right and centre.
