PIETA HOTSPURS           2

FLORIANA                     1

Shunsuke Nakamura grabbed the all-important goal six minutes from time to give Pieta Hotspurs a shock victory over Floriana.

Floriana’s flying start come to fruition into the fourth minute.

Christian Grech was rather harshly adjudged to have fouled Juninho Cabral inside the area and the Brazilian picked himself up to shot his team in the lead.

Ten minutes after the break, it was Pieta’s turn to be awarded a penalty. Paul Chimezie’s surge into the box was halted by Mohammed Saleh, prompting referee Etienne Mangion to point to the spot.

Chimezie despatched his shot past Akpan to level matters.

Six minutes from time, Akpan was forced to palm as best as he could a low drive by Jan Busuttil from outside the box.

But the Floriana goalkeeper could do nothing to stop substitute Shunsuke Nakamura’s ferocious shot from an angled position.

Paul Chimezie was voted BOV player of the match.
