I refer to the article titled ‘Need for public gardens’ by Astrid Vella (October 15).

Unfortunately, the writer, who is living in New York, is again misinformed about the facts. I write because I am one of the six owners of the property she mentions, the twin palazzo Villino Giannin.

She charges that our architect failed to submit all the required photographs. However, she failed to state that, over the past 14 years, we have had at least three site visits at the property by various planning authority boards.

She also stated, and I quote, that “it has now been revealed that part of the site claimed as fully-owned by the applicant, in fact, belongs to third parties”. Another inaccurate piece of information. The site is owned by no other that the family that inherited it. Someone is claiming to own a pavement adjacent to the site.

What I cannot stand in this country is that people like the correspondent bother to interfere only in specific cases. I wonder why.

She failed to mention that a neighbour of the said property was allowed to remove all the garden structures and excavate when this same property formed part of our building and, in fact, we have three windows overlooking the said garden (photos). In our case, she organised a protest and insisted on scheduling, yet, in the other, she did nothing.

I leave the readers to judge for themselves.
