The Malta U-19 team will play two friendly matches against Luxembourg this week as part of the build-up for their commitments in the qualifying round of the UEFA Under-19 Championship.

Belgium, France and Lithuania are the other teams in the 2019 UEFA U-19 Championship Group 6 tournament, taking place in Malta between November 14 and 20, 2018.

Winston Muscat, the Malta U-19 coach who is assisted by Charles Scerri, has selected a squad of 18 players for the warm-up games against Luxembourg today at the Mertzig Stadium and on Thursday at the Bascharage Stadium.

Both games kick off at 19.30.

Muscat’s squad is largely made up of domestic-based players with the exception of advanced midfielder Andrei Spiteri who is on the books of Spanish club Leganes.

Six members of the Malta Under-19 squad play for St Andrews while Birkirkara have five players.

After arriving in Luxembourg on Sunday evening, the Malta Under-19 players will have two training sessions on Monday.
