An estimated 275 participants from 27 countries, mostly international scholars from Europe, the US and beyond, will this week be in Malta to attend the prestigious 17th International Clinical Phonetics and Linguistics Association (ICPLA) Conference.

This biennial conference, being held from October 23 to 25 at the Corinthia Hotel, St George’s Bay, St Julian’s, is being hosted by the Department of Communication Therapy at the University of Malta’s Faculty of Health Sciences. Local speech language pathologists and some 50 undergraduate and post-graduate communication therapy students are also participating.

The conference programme includes keynote speeches by international experts in the fields of motor speech disorders, acquired language disorder and developmental language disorder, 100 individual oral presentations and 70 scientific posters, and eight panel discussions on themes related to clinical speech and language sciences, phonetics and audiology.
