A new publication entitled Graduate Employability Skills in Malta, authored by Dr Anne Marie Thake, head of Public Policy at the University of Malta’s Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, is the first of its kind to examine how institutional actors in Malta are interpreting, influencing and responding to skills availability in the local labour market for graduates.

It researches and draws lessons from the Maltese experience of managing graduate employability over the span of three decades. The focus is on three of the most rapidly increasing economic sectors, namely, accountancy, pharmachem, and information and communications technology, each of which is subject to a comprehensive critical analysis.

The book launch, held recently at the offices of Deloitte, was addressed by a number of speakers, including Malcolm Booker, CEO, Deloitte, Clyde Caruana, CEO, Jobsplus, Prof. Frank Bezzina, dean of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, and Francoise Grech from ICT company Exigy Ltd, who discussed graduate employability skills from international, national and sectoral perspectives. The event was attended among others by Education and Employment Minister Evarist Bartolo.

The book, which is intended for employers, higher education institutions, professional associations, government, under­graduate and postgraduate students, is published by Kite Group in a limited edition, and in high-quality and hardback format.
