Bank of Valletta employees on Friday reported to work in casual clothing in support of the Pink October campaign, which on a national level is mainly driven by the Marigold Foundation – BOV in the Community.
Friday’s dress down day is just one of the initiatives, taken up by the bank during this month in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Earlier this month, employees were presented with a specifically designed lapel pin to wear throughout October, and customer-facing units have been supplied with pink sweets for customers to treat themselves with, while being encouraged to effect a small donation for the cause in question.
Furthermore, the Bank of Valletta Head Office façade, the newly inaugurated Premium Banking Centre in Santa Venera and the Victoria Branch building in Gozo are being lit in pink during the evening.
Speaking about these initiatives carried out for the fourth year running at Bank of Valletta, Charles Azzopardi, executive, PR and marketing, stressed the importance of cancer awareness and overcoming the fear of doing the necessary health check-ups.
“In line with this year’s Pink October campaign tagline – ‘Face your fear’, it is utterly important to get yourself checked, as cancer is most of the time curable if triggered at an early stage,” Mr Azzopardi said.
Fully aware of the fact that cancer patients require an adequate supply of blood, Bank of Valletta will be hosting another blood donation drive among its employees as the mobile blood unit will be stationed next to BOV Centre in Santa Venera on October 26.
