In present day Malta, dogs, domestic animals, do not have votes in a political general election.

Embryos, very little domestic humans, do not have votes in a political general election, either.

Dogs have just been protected further by new legislation that prevents humans from chaining them.

Embryos have just been denied further legal protection by the removal of an appropriate clause in the new domestic violence law this year and may also be killed. They are, in fact, invariably killed, through new legislation this year in favour of further in-vitro fertilisation and embryo freezing.

It does say some things about Maltese present lawmakers, their standard bearers and the direction being given to Maltese society that affects present and future generations.

It’s good that there is also a good number of non-political institutions, rich in ethical and moral values, that are addressing the huge imbalance in values created in the local political sphere by the inconsiderate quest for votes.
